TMCI Padovan – EU Research and Innovation Programme

TMCI Padovan is glad to be technological partner of the DigitALGAEsation project, selected and funded by Horizon 2020, the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme. The partners of Digitalgaesation belong to Academia and Industry in all Europe, combining the best expertises in the field of microalgae cultivation. Microalgae are photosynthetic microorganisms that could be already utilized in different fields of application as nutraceutics, cosmetics, feed, transportation energy and they actually represent a possible solution for the increasing request for food, thank to their rich quality composition in proteins, vitamins, fatty acids, minerals.

The main focus of the entire project is to optimise control and operation of the cultivation process of this specific type of biomass in order to maximise the productivity at all levels. TMCI Padovan, in strict collaboration with the Dept. of Biology and the Dept. of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padova, will be involved in the modelling and control of the growth response of selected species of microalgae in an industrial environment, implementing automatic control strategies in real industrial systems (photobioreactors) that are generally characterised by environmental fluctuations which greatly influence the highest accumulation of biomass.
